Don't think this is OT, but will try it this way.

Technology Consortium Upgrades DRM Specification

A consortium of consumer electronics manufacturers and content creators
recently announced an update to their DRM interoperability platform. The
group, called the Coral Consortium, is aiming to create a standard for
balancing DRM technologies and consumer content management. The latest
update appears to be mostly progressive, and focuses in part on the seamless
playback and transfer of content between different devices. "This release
will allow device makers and service providers to give consumers the power
to easily locate and play content on all of their devices, without having to
grapple with technical details like different device DRMs and media
formats," the group said last week.

The ambitious charter of the group is magnified by the sheer number of
participating companies. Coral's founding members include heavyweights HP,
Intertrust, Philips, Matsushita (Panasonic), Samsung, Sony, Twentieth
Century Fox, the IFPI and NBC Universal. And just last week, the group
announced the addition of several new companies, including America Online,
Cisco Systems, Comcast, Gibson Guitar, LG Electronics, Motorola, the Motion
Picture Association of America (MPAA), SecureMedia, and Verimatrix. That
level of participation resurrects some ghosts of SDMI, which one veteran
label executive described as wracked with disagreement and stalemate.
Meanwhile, contentious battles continue to characterize the relationship
between consumer electronics companies, broadcasters and the RIAA. Most
recently, the music trade group testified in Congress for stronger piracy
controls on newer devices like digital (HD) radios, drawing resistance from
groups like the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and the Consumer
Electronics Association (CEA).
