I base it on the invested $s The number of shares doesn't really matter unless you are trying to contol a stock (investment firms only) or really small stocks

I also used a risk function to access total portfolio risk. Essentially likelihood of stock falling to my sell point times initial investment. to asses total risk and remain in my comfort ability zone. As a small stock like nvlx grows I can adjust the risk or my sell point and take on more risk elsewhere
