I think there is a bit of confusion on insider share count:

Steve VandeVrede: still owns 1,759,500 series B preferred stock, convertible to 9,473,721 common.

His sell of 100,000 common shares represents about 1% of his holdings.

The VandeVrede's (Ken, Steve, Mike) all own about the same amount (1,759,500 series B preferred stock, convertible to 9,473,721 common)

On sec form 4, everyone needs to look at table 2. It shows the remaining amount of preferred and common shares (convertible from preferred).

To put this into perspective: say you own 500,000 common shares and sell 5,000 (which represents 1% of your holdings). Would you consider that dumping?

Remember: they are not taking a salary and it's tax time.
