Rutabagas are rich in vitamin C, dietary fiber, potassium and antioxidant compounds. Diets containing a high intake of these nutrients may help decrease the risk of several serious medical conditions. As a cruciferous vegetable, rutabagas contain raffinose, a complex sugar that can cause bloating, abdominal pain and flatulence in some people.
