Better understanding on new laws in Canada starting April 1

Presently, Canada allows you to grow your own for personal medical use. Law is transitioning now.

March 31, 2014

The current Marihuana Medical Access Program will end.
All ATPs (Authorization To Possess) and production licences (grow your own) issued under the current program will expire. All dried marihuana produced under a personal use or a designated person production licence, or purchased from Health Canada, must be destroyed. Holders of personal use and designated person production licences will be required to destroy their plants or transfer them to a licensed producer by following the appropriate process (refer to Frequently Asked Questions for further details).

April 1, 2014

Health Canada will no longer produce or sell marihuana for medical purposes.
All individuals requiring access to marihuana for medical purposes must obtain it from a licensed producer.

That is the license MDCN is waiting for.

Licensed producers will be required to meet all the requirements for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) including, but not limited to:

Physical Security Measures
Good Production Practices
Packaging, Labelling and Shipping Requirements
Import and Export permit, if applicable
Security Clearance
