Patent lawyers are wonderful assets to message boards, blogs, and opinion websites when these attorneys can provide facts and logic to helpinvestors understand case law, rules of procedure, timelines, and other issues relating to lawsuits and licensing.

However, patent lawyers often make for terrible patent stock analysts and patent investors because of the tendency to be myopic. Looking at PIPCOs and focusing only on patent law and litigation can be quite detrimental. It is equally important to understand the underlying technology, the patenting licensing sector, and the nuances that exist in the IP world.

Not all patents were created equal. Commercial oftware patents have historically enjoyed higher RRs that telecom patents and other standardized technologies. On the flip side, SEPs provide greater opportunities with the abundance of OEMs, ODMs, and other suppliers of devices and services. These are just two examples of many differing kinds of IP assets that require unique and separate methods of analysis.

I am not a patent attorney, but I have been researching and analyzing patent investments for a few decades now - both personally & professionally. My comments here are not to dissuade or persuade anyone from doing what they believe is best for their money. I only try to cut through the BS and paint a clear picture for all. With clarity, we can make the best decisions and manage risk vs. reward to the best of our abilities and inline with our own personal tolerance levels.

At the risk of repeating myself for the umpteenth time, WDDD is clearly an excellent trading vehicle at the present time. I fail to understand why anyone gets defensive regarding my comments.
