My fav carry is often 'Picked-on' (LOL) by other marksmen. It's a compact pistol I've had lots of practise with but is an admittedly weaker caliber than 9mm or .45.
I don't seem to find the link, but from the gunBarms board, there was an article attesting to the statistical number of times used Vs the incapacitation/lethality in practice. It was Very good. My fav is the makarov (.380 X 7+1) Light, compact, tough and reliable. Accuracy is good. The extra-large trigger guard allows it to be used even with winter-gloves. The half-cock feature will prevent firing even when dropped, but will fire if the trigger is completly drawn through it's full range. (Will move the hammer back completely and then fire.)
