Specific: "QMC obtained equipment funding to develop a line of advanced high-performance quantum dots for use in high-definition displays.
......for use in high-definition displays; sounds like something is already in the pipeline and the MR could be small or large, (but I would expect the small as it will produce enough for a med-size business, (ie small initial proof run) as well as the fact LANL/QTMM are validating that volume-manufacturing
problems are resolved as well confirming expectations.

"Tetrapod quantum dots refer to one of several promising materials niche sectors that recently have emerged from the burgeoning growth area of nanotechnology."
.....recently emerged from further study of customized TQDs delivered to Gov. Labs & Universities???

"They can be used as an enabling material across many industries and are unparalleled in versatility and flexible in form."
.....maybe some of those same Gov Labs & Universities helped validate that statement

" Companies like 3M and QMC are predicting....."
......an indication of perception in regards of public awareness, perhaps

"Recently QMC obtained equipment funding "
....could have been from investors for small MR, W.C. Carson, or Gov grant, (ummmm LANL funds)

("According to Quantum Materials Chairman and CEO Stephen B. Squires, "It is gratifying to progress into scaled TQD production and we look forward to positioning Quantum Materials to meet the
anticipated market quantity requests for our engineered spectrum Tetrapod Quantum Dots."
......this statement was in general whereas, "for use in high-definition displays" is specific.

This enabling investment has been made by the Central Texas based partnerships Carson Diversified Investments LP and Carson Haysco Holdings LP.

"....and says that the Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) Thick-Shell technology will be integrated with a variety of the composite tetrapod quantum dots to develop a line of advanced high performance quantum dots."
.....will be, further study and verification is being conducted, (however keeping in mind "high-definition displays" in mind, I'd think that'd already been proven to a degree and demand is there,
hence, "for use in high-definition displays".)

"The goal of the scaled and controlled production, and enhanced quantum dot structure is to resolve volume-manufacturing problems that date back over 20 years."
.......sounds like someone has been chatting,.....something about meeting the objectives of the NNI, (http://nano.gov/)
maybe an actual production run test & confirmation while producing product for high-definition displays.

"The combination of thick-shell technology and tetrapod quantum dots is expected to deliver unsurpassed optoelectric brightness and color purity leading to higher resolution and color vitality, and as integrated into the manufacture of displays and lighting units, will enhance performance life expectancy."
......further expectations and testing to verify

"For photovoltaics including solar cells, thermovoltaics, near infrared, MEMS, cameras, strain gauges, and other sensor applications, the increased photon absorption by thick-shell tetrapod semiconductor nanocrystals correspond to increased sensitivity, and higher efficiencies due to suppressing recombination."
........Known fact; "increased photon absorption by thick-shell tetrapod semiconductor nanocrystals correspond ...."

Oh yeah, "QMC has teamed with LANL and has jointly written and submitted a proposal for funding to the recent DOE EERE Funding Opportunity for Solid-State Lighting Advanced Technology R&D, which aims to increase performance and market readiness of efficient LED lights incorporating improved quantum dots."
......recent, (past tense);as the LANL has access to Gov funds, What do you think the chances are that it's already pretty much a done deal?
Objective; increase performance and market readiness of efficient LED lights incorporating improved quantum dots.

"Quantum Materials has initiated designs for even higher-capacity equipment for future production,"
.......OK, maybe bigger MR or new tech, (both good imo) and already started

"....they expect to announce the details later this year."
........ie, they don't have it yet, but think I'll continue to wait
