I am not buying it. Why were the Kit Carson claims "inaccessible"? Too much cat-claw? No road access and he didn't have time to hike? Forgot his hiking boots?

He went up there to sample them, did he not? Why then settle for samples on adjoining land? I can see maybe sampling the adjoining land, if they were contemplating claiming the land. But why no samples on the land they (actually Bauman) have?
