PATENTS DON'T MATTER MUCH? Huh? Companies like Apple, Merck, Google, Amazon- pick um spend $10's of MILLION on patents and defend them to the ends of the earth cause they "don't matter"? REALLY?

From the last BHRT 10-K filed on March , 2013. Page 16 quoting:

Patents and Proprietary Rights
We hold limited patent rights in our product candidates. Our MyoCath product candidate is protected by a patent, expiring in September 2017, in which we have an irrevocable co-exclusive license. Our MYOCELL PRODUCT CANDIDATE IS NO LONGER PROTECTED BY PATENTS, which means that competitors will be free to sell products that incorporate the same or similar technologies that are used in MyoCell without infringing our patent rights. AS A RESULT, MYOCELL, IF APPROVED FOR USE, MAY BE VULNERABLE TO COMPETITION IN THE FORM OF PRODUCTS THAT USE THE SAME OR SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES. We have previously licenses certain patents and patent applications relating to our MyoCell product candidate.

Myocell is supposedly THE BIG ONE- the ole "FDA TRIAL" and all. And guess what- THEY DO NOT EVEN HOLD PATENT ON IT ANYMORE. Yep. Read the statement above- if, even "if" and that's a BIG "if" - it states right there, that they may never commercially monetize it or make money off it as it could be RIPPED OFF FREELY (paraphrasing) the "vulnerable to competition" disclosure. Yeah- ALL those companies out in the world don't pursue pesky patents- cause you know, they don't really matter? Watch SHARK TANK- one of the FIRST QUESTIONS those centi-millionaire and BILLIONAIRE investors ask a person when they get a little interest in their product they're pitching is, "DO YOU HAVE PATENT PROTECTION ON IT". Several have said "no" and it was DEAL OVER. Ole "Mr. Wonderful" told um, "WHY would I sink a dime in this- when the day we get any sales of any amount, it will be knocked off in about 5 minutes by a major player with deep pockets?".

Sorry- PATENTS MATTER and MATTER HUGE. HUGE. It's the backbone of American and developed World technology development and sales.
