I was told via pm this board might be a good place to pose my question...
A very brief backstory: I'm a 24 year old engineer. A few weeks ago I was exposed to the world of stocks and I literally can't get enough. I've been reading all the books I get my hands on, and went from not knowing what shorting a stock meant to being able to recite multiple Ed Seykota quotes... We had friends over last weekend and I was a little antisocial, opting to multi task and drink beer with them while playing with thinkorswim.
So the question: I've seen enough. I want to make a career change, to a career in finance from engineering.. My questions isn't so much how to get started as how to get started "not in sales." As in a "financial advisor associate." I'm seeking guidance. I want to immerse myself in this world because... I'm passionate about it.
