TSMC now building quad-core 'A8' chips for Apple's next-gen iPhone

If that is really making it into the next iPhone, TSMC is very well on track. Not so delayed as everyone was claiming here.

I wonder if Apple really is going quad core. It wouldn't quite fit my theory that Apple is smarter than the others, knowing that more than two cores are a waste in mobile applications. I really hope Apple is not going after this bigger, faster and more bullshit like Samsung.

I expect Apple to pay $25 to $30 for A8.

The sapphire screen may already be more expensive than that (don't want to know how much energy the production cost - sapphire is almost as hard as diamond). Apple should concentrate on things like software, ecosystem and device quality - that's where Android devices suck. They don't have the margins to improve much (see the plastic S5 - Samsung will soon lack money for those expensive fabs wink ).

Anyway, this is about Intel, sorry.
