It makes so much sense for them to have built them as different companies and merge them once they became successful. For one it allowed each team to focus on what they're good at (SKTO with Berkeley and AEGY with Pharmajanes) and once everything fell in place, BAM- Merger. Also it spread the risk around and allowed for more investors to get in on the action. This has clearly been in the works a loooooong time and I'm glad it has.
