They prevented the pinky MM from trying to shake out weak shares at the end of the day and reselling tomorrow I the am when volume is greatest.

By keeping bid support up and buying strong at the end. .it is a smart play. It makes it harder for the other MM to open up the bid ask spread. It's the big fish and they know what they are doing.
