Eyesight and vision is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this science. There will most undoubtedly be an unimaginable number of other afflictions that could/will be treated with stem cells. Eyes were chosen, as has been stated before, primarily because of the transparency of cell progress during and after implantation. Some better in the know can correct me if I am wrong, but the window in the eye makes for easier viewing by clinicians of the cell attachment and progression compared to other organs. This may not be the most financially lucrative procedure for the use of our cells, as there most likely will be another and another that will be more profitable (blood?). But with this trial we are confirming the SCIENCE. THAT in itself will open up the door to infinity.
