One more thing to consider.
It already is, and certainly the wave of the future in laboratory testing will be the use of these automated, fast test systems like Abbott's Architect system. With all the different brands of the automated, fast test systems out on the market, and presently in use by hospitals and other test centers, what good is a specific test that someone has patent rights to, if it cannot be ran on other brands of automated, fast test systems? So, my guess is that there will be lots of interlicensing deals (with royalties) done between companies so that the hospitals and other test centers will have the latest and best tests available for their use. kag
