Collier startup looks to shed LED on helping agencies save on light bills [Naples Daily News, Fla. :: ]
(Naples Daily News (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 27--NAPLES -- A start-up with a bright idea could save Collier County taxpayers money on street lighting.
In a pilot project with Apollo Metro Solutions, a small Naples-based lighting systems manufacturer, the county staff is testing out new LED luminaires along Rattlesnake Hammock Road in East Naples.
As the sole bidder for the project, the local company is supplying about 40 of its wirelessly controlled lamps, with installations from Santa Barbara Boulevard to Collier Boulevard that started Feb. 20, following a smaller two-light test of the technology.
