Mr. Irwin has for many years been engaged internationally as a clean energy project developer, project manager and a project finance specialist. Amongst his clients are major clean energy project developers, national and regional governments, investment groups and investment banks.
Mr. Irwin as President of Green Tech Projects Corp. undertakes clean energy project consulting for both internally originated projects and on the basis of a client engagement. Currently, Mr. Irwin is the lead project manager for an internally originated project to recycle agriculture animal and crop waste biomass into a viable bioenergy product in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.
Mr. Irwin completed a major project undertaking where he was responsible for project management and finance of a $1.5b photovoltaic project on a 2,200 acre site in Nevada. Mr. Irwin was engaged on this project for a period of 2.5 years as the Owner’s representative. He formed the project development team, negotiated property agreements, EPC contracts and project finance. He supervised and actively prepared project financial risk models, construction budgets, the project management plan and the project schedule from permitting through to commercial operations. Mr. Irwin lead a team of twenty professionals including: project managers, engineers, lawyers and accountants.
At the request of a major London based investment bank, Mr. Irwin assessed a series of clean energy wind and solar projects in the Middle East and Turkey. Mr. Irwin worked closely with the project developers, government officials and funding sources including risk rating agencies. His reports formed the basis of funding solutions for these projects and government policy adjustments. Mr. Irwin became a project finance underwriter in 1980 when he became the lead underwriter for a $100mm real estate fund that purchased residential projects under construction and sold them to retail investors. Mr. Irwin’s career progressed to becoming a risk modeling and project management specialist. His structured finance solutions have been accepted internationally by major investment banks, rating agencies, law firms and project developers.
