NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2003--

Newisys Introduces the Second Product in a Family of AMD Opteron(tm)-based Server Platform Designs, the Newisys 4300

Newisys Inc. -- the premier developer of enterprise-class AMD Opteron(tm)-based server designs for Tier 1 OEMs and System Builders -- today announced the first public demonstration of the Newisys(R) 4300 Enterprise Class Server at WinHEC, Microsoft's Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in New Orleans.
The Newisys 4300 will debut at the conference and can be seen in booth #403 throughout the entire show. Additionally, the Newisys 4300 will be featured in a parade of servers during David Thompson's Server Keynote.
"Newisys continues to deliver on its company mission of building enterprise-capable turn-key solutions for Tier 1 OEMs and System Builders," said Phil Hester, CEO of Newisys Inc. "Leveraging the groundbreaking performance and manageability of the Newisys 2100 server design, the Newisys 4300 Enterprise-Class Server takes Newisys into the heart of the datacenter."
Targeted at enterprise databases, online transaction processing, business critical CRM and ERP applications, and compute intensive analytical workloads, the Newisys 4300 Enterprise-Class Server taps the full potential of its four AMD Opteron(tm) processors, providing enterprise customers with optimized 32-bit application performance, and the ability to scale to the power of 64-bit computing on their own terms. With 4 AMD Opteron processors, up to 32 gigabytes of DDR333 memory, redundant hot-swap power and cooling, and extensive hot-swap PCI-x expansion capabilities, the Newisys 4300 is ready to take on 32-bit and 64-bit mission-critical applications.
"This is an important development in the volume server market," said Mark Melenovsky, Research Director, IDC Global Enterprise Server Solutions. "The combination of performance, features, manageability and the flexibility of running both 32-bit and 64-bit applications will deliver a compelling proposition for many customers."
Adding advanced Multi-Server Management to the Newisys Systems Management Solution pioneered on the Newisys 2100 server, the Newisys 4300 Enterprise-Class Server delivers 100% "lights-out" remote manageability that will scale with the needs of the datacenter and minimize IT administration costs. Furthermore, once released for sale, the Newisys 4300's Systems Management and software improvements can be downloaded from your system provider's Web site and seamlessly upgraded via the Newisys Systems Management Console.
"Microsoft is excited to debut the Newisys 4300 at its annual WinHEC conference and we look forward to previewing beta and production level equipment in the near future," said James Hebert, Microsoft GM Windows Server Marketing. "The combination of enterprise class AMD64 server computing from Newisys and our world class Windows Server 2003 operating system delivers a robust, highly-available, cost effective, easily scalable, and easy to manage platform."
The Newisys 4300 Enterprise-Class Server will be available through the Newisys beta program late this summer with general availability in Q4 2003. For availability and other information, e-mail Newisys at sales@newisys.com.
