I haven't read MH's posts for months and so I can't make any comment on your post. Yet......

money does not buy happiness...

It does. Most of the problems in the world, including mine, stemmed from lack of money. To me, money is tools which help to solve everyday problems/issues a la food, illness, shelter, clothes, or some needs/wants in higher hierarchy like gadgets, travels, cars etc.

If I have enough tools for the rest of my life, I will retire immediately and all the job-related problems are gone. I will fly to Thailand, Japan, Greece for luxurious holidays like thrice a year.

Money can buy happiness.
