Ernie Mercier, a technical advisor and consultant to Markland Technologies has agreed to accept the position of Chairman of a newly formed Board of Advisors for Markland Technologies. He is a well-respected industry expert, with past experience including a position as the former Head of Technology Research and Development for US Customs. He will act as the principal liaison with the Homeland Security Industry Association on behalf of Markland.
"Ernie has worked with US Customs for the past 30 years. He retired as the Director of Research & Development for the US Department of Customs. He was instrumental in bringing many technologies to the US borders, including License Plate Readers, Dedicated Commuter Lanes, Communication Systems, etc. As well as serving as Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Markland Technologies, Ernie frequently advises Customs on a variety of new border strategies and technologies."

Markland Technologies Inc. (MKLD:OTCBB) is establishing a portfolio of integrated security technologies. The company currently is positioned with Dedicated Commuter Lane (DCL) border security technologies and Acoustic Core(tm) bomb detection technologies and is reviewing potential complimentary acquisitions. The Company has acquired its current technology base through acquisition and exclusive licensing agreements. The Company is currently in the marketplace with installations in border security and is in the final stages of development and testing for its advanced technology, Acoustic Core Illicit detection equipment. Acoustic Core is currently in testing under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United States Air Force. The objective of the CRADA is to jointly develop a system that will demonstrate the effectiveness of Acoustic Core(tm) technology to non-intrusively detect explosive materials in cargo and/or vehicles. The CRADA Team will consist of personnel from the Company, US Air Force Air Mobility Battle Lab, and other USAF/Department of Defense personnel from the operating location, and technical experts as required.
