IMHO - That article is not even close to what is happening, and what is happening is intentional on top of that. So here are two points to keep things simple

1. The Median income in the U.S. keeps falling, and the price of goods/services keeps increasing.

2. Fewer people have actual trade skills to get them by in economic bad times. Texting and Video Games are not actual Trade skills.

And to add one for fun. The way the U.S. unemployment rate is calculated is ridiculous. The extended unemployment is running out for millions of Americans. They fall off the rolls, and do not count anymore. That means we have more unemployed while the unemployment rate falls. Figure that one out!!! I cannot.
