In case anybody wondered, 340B is a government program requiring hospitals to provide underserved clients (basically poor and/or under-served) access to outpatient medications at discounted prices. The current rant is a "bombshell" that many hospitals have agreements with retail Rx providers to which they refer such clients... sites like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and Walmart or supermarket pharmacies.

The government has held a number of symposiums complaining that not all pharmacies are charging the program the lowest prices required; other complaints include improprieties such as that the pharmacy allowed the use of a coupon or rebate discount presented by the customer in violation of Medicare rules that prevent such discounts.

340B is a TINY part of the Rx landscape. Yes, WAG could be fined for infractions, but if all this business went away, it would represent WAY less than the hit CVS is taking by not selling tobacco, come October. Robb, if this is your idea of an "Ah-Ha Moment" you need to find a new google search term to research for boogiemen lurking in Walgreen's closet.
