The width of the conductive medium lithographed onto the silicae substrate is essentially equivalent to the length-differential impedence [unless it is an unusual set of materials]. When the typical trace makes a right or left [a 90deg turn], geometry dictates that from the inside corner to the outside corner is a wider path than the rest of the road [actually it's the hypotenuse of the rt. triangle]. The additional width results in lower impedence across the corner.

It's rather analogous to reflectance [or light scatter] as a beam transitions from one medium to another when the speed of light in the 2 media are more than slightly different. Also, hot-rodders experimenting with intake and exhaust manifold geometries can discover the similar accoustical phenomena which produce dramatically more torque & horsepower just by changing curves, angles, lengths and diameters.
