It sounds like the judge, after hearing that the lawyers wanted a trial that would last 2 or 3 weeks, told the lawyers to get their butts into a settlement conference to hash out some of their differences so that they would be prepared to come to her courtroom on 2/26 to reach a final decision much more rapidly than 2-3 weeks.

The judge's primary interest is always going to be to get cases moving through the courtroom as quickly as possible because there is always a huge load of cases coming into the court that never lets up, and judges are heavily judged (by voters at election time) on their ability to keep that case load moving, and not allow any backlogs of cases to pile up. We are supposed to be guaranteed the right to swift justice after all!
