There is also a thing called competition and market viability. If the competition is beating you on price, then the sales job becomes just that much harder even though you have the better product. I always told my sales students to sell the sizzle not the steak, however unless you can fully prove you can exceed the customers expectations it won't matter how good your product is, it will come down to price in the end. It just makes life easier all around if you can eliminate the pricing issue up front. You can then get people to concentrate on product comparison. Then everybody wins!
