Been looking into PPJE’s latest news about its new line of business with the blood testing, wondering who they’re working with. I came across this PR from BioFire last summer about the FDA OKing its Blood Culture Identification Panel.
It looks like there are some similarities:
BIO PR: “Blood Culture Identification (BCID) Panel"
PPJE PR: "Blood Culture Identification (BCID) Panel"
BIO: “To date, the 27-target panel is the most comprehensive test to be approved by the FDA.”
PPJE: “a comprehensive list of 24 pathogens and 3 antibiotic resistance genes associated with bloodstream infections." (That adds up to 27, btw.)
BIO: "With an easy procedure requiring only two minutes of hands-on time, the BCID Panel can identify a pathogen in nine out of 10 positive blood cultures in about an hour ..."
PPJE: "One test identifies pathogens in 9 out of 10 positive blood cultures in about an hour with only two minutes of hands-on time."
