I respectfully disagree Robin, if you follow any of the most successful traders/investors in the OTC market, they will all disagree with you. Please read my post below, it should be very clear as to why you should always buy at the ask. Cheers!

When I bought my shares when I really loaded up last year, I posted all my buys for everyone to see and I bought at the ask. Reason being, just as you said, it helps maintain the positive upward trend of the stock. When you buy shares of an OTC stock, it is important to buy at the ask, since you want to buy into stock that is moving up , not down. When you keep bidding lower you are helping the stock to move lower and the last thing you want to happen after you buy a stock is to see it move lower.

Some think that if they can buy their shares at a lower price than the ask, they are getting a good deal and the majority of the time it is just the opposite. Reason being, you just helped to reverse the upward trend and thus what you thought was a deal ended up being just the opposite.

Not only that, but many times the MM will only give you a partial fill, bit by bit and then all of a sudden somebody comes in with a bid higher and now you only got a partial fill and most likely will have to revise your order and pay an additional broker fee. If you had looked at the amount on the ask and saw there was enough to fill your order you most likely will get filled on your order without having to pay for any revised orders.

I do not know why some traders and investors do not get this!

Whenever I buy a stock I buy at the ask, if not I have to ask myself, if I am not willing to buy at the ask, don't I have enough faith in the stock that I am buying. If I don't want to buy at the current ask, I wait, but I do not put in a smaller bid.

It is always better to buy into a stock as it is moving up, not down, so why try to help reverse the momentum by putting a bid to bring the share price lower?

Please people, take the time to understand this, I guarantee you that if you are buying into the right stock you want to buy at the ask, if not, you shouldn't be trying to buy in the first place. At least hold off until the ask is where you want to buy in at, but don't place lower bids unless you are shorting the stock and want to help move it down!

I sure hope some folks pay attention to this and get it. Cheers!
