Good read from Derek Peterson, working NJ hard... February 05, 2014 at 10:30 AM
Just so you know, Sen. Nicholas Scutari is drafting a NJ Bill to allow Recreational and Medical MJ for passage this year. New Jersey will come around once Christie gets his bell rung a few more times with this scandal.

Letter: NJ should regulate marijuana industry, as Senator Scutari proposes
With unemployment still high, violence in our cities and the state in debt, taxing and regulating the marijuana industry would be a great move for New Jersey. Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Union) should be commended for being the first to propose it.

I have experience with the regulated cannabis industry, as owner of dispensaries in other states. I’m also familiar with New Jersey agricultural business, as I’m CEO of a New Jersey-based agricultural company, Terra Tech, which grows pesticide- and GMO-free herbs and leafy greens through our subsidiary, Edible Garden.

The majority of Americans and New Jersey residents would prefer companies like ours, providing safe, food-grade cannabis to verified adults in a regulated way over the current dangerous black market. If cannabis becomes legal in the Garden State, we look forward to taking part in this new industry in a responsible way and contributing to the local communities’ coffers.

That’s why we urge Scutari to work with all stakeholders to craft this bill. From experienced business people to consumers to law enforcement and local elected officials, we must make sure the bill is well-crafted and allows responsible businesses the opportunity to provide what the public wants: a responsible, transparent and tax-paying cannabis industry.
