Then above that though it says,

"We define a daily active user as a registered Facebook user who logged in and visited Facebook through our website or a mobile device" then goes on with 'or' not with 'and'.

That means with the app always logged on to Facebook and checking for messages or other items even if the user didn't look at the app they would still be considered 'daily active'. The date rolls and since you are still logged in from previous day FB would count you again as being 'daily active', even if you never open the app that day. The user doesn't have to take action or share content, they just have to leave the app running in the background and don't even have to access it. Meaning left the phone home for 3 days while on vacation, but was logged into FB app on it would make them a 'daily active' user. Just as an example.

Facebook would never get me or many others when comes to ads no matter what app they could push ads to, my phone is rooted and I block all ads. Not paying from my data plan for some company to advertise to me.
