Say they bought 100K shares for $25K, and sold for $50K. Makes for profit of $25K, or after short term capital gains tax of 30% $17.5K

A really nice gain for a couple of months, but had they waited 5 years for $50 they could have sold for $5 million, which is a gain of $4.975,000 taxed at long term capital gains of 15% makes for a profit of $4.25 Million.

Sell now for $17,500 profit, or wait for 5 years and a possible $4.25 million profit.
