Pot + Penny Stocks + Pacific Time=Profits
By ProffesorCho | Posted 32 minutes ago 0 Share CNN PRODUCER NOTE

Pot stocks have been high lately and despite some dips recently, they don’t look like they are cooling off anytime soon, especially after the news that came out this morning. Amongst all the legalization talks, there has been an interesting discussion going on along side with this buzz. That discussion is over the question of whether or not big business tobacco will be getting in on this green rush? According to the recent press release by marijuana lighting company VPER (OTC: VPER), that seems to be the case. In a press release dated for this morning, the mid-size marijuana company Viper Networks announced that it has entered into a sales agreement with arguably the largest tobacco company in the world, Phillip Morris.

Not only does this mean new heights for the legal pot industry, but it also means even more opportunities for investors. Aside from the investors that have been dabbling with these “pot stocks” from the start of the new year, this huge step taken by the tobacco giants now opens up the door for institutional investors to get in on this game. I call it a game because although these stocks have been on an exponential rise because of all the marijuana hype, a majority of these stocks were introduced to the market for pennies and still remain on the OTC markets. Given the notorious rep surrounding penny stocks, I think it’s more than fair to give it that label. Nevertheless, with hundreds of millions in volume being traded in these companies each day, it’s clearly a game investors are happy to play.

With that being said, with news like this hitting market, it appears as if this risk investors have been taking might pay off. With this instance of $VPER releasing this monumental news, prior to this latest update the company has been trading between .0005-.0029. Announcing news just yesterday as well, another $30 million dollar contract sent the stock to its 52-week-high of .0029 at mornings open. Already within hours of this news, the stock has received the attention of institutional buyers and has even been upgraded to a buy rating with a target of $0.50 + by many analysts. With Viper Networks becoming the first marijuana company to secure a deal with the tobacco industry, it’s very possible that we will see this company follow the precedents set by $CANV and $MDBX. With news like this coming out of the marijuana industry, it’s not hard to see why investors have gotten in on this game and haven’t looked back yet.

Even more appealing to these investors is the fact that given the lax regulations of penny stocks, and lack of organization of those companies, a little information goes a long way. As taught by penny stock gurus like Timothy Sykes and Jason Bond, most of these companies are fueled solely on hype and news, very little do we find a penny stock with a really solid background. However, they would further assert that when a company delivers consistent news, and miraculously displays a strong foundation, they turn out to be the most profitable ones since they can be purchased at a fraction of the cost than they really are worth. Although transparency is a huge plus for these penny stock companies, so can a slight time differences be as well. This is what proved to be the case for $VPER, because given the time differences the company faced with (Sri Lanka & Qatar HQ’s), its news doesn’t get released till early morning or at market close for some reason, as shown by their latest news releases. Thanks to a posting on a stock forum, and the subsequent buzz it generated, it came to our attention that the company already has its PR and 8K published on their site. Given that time difference however, it hasn’t been posted yet to the market, giving some savvy investors a leg up on the market.

Regardless of all that, I still stand by my view that these OTC’s are all a game, I will admit that they have be been quite fun to watch though. Especially the way these marijuana stocks have been acting lately, it’s either we will witness the next big American industry or just another bubble burst. There is a lot of potential so it will be interesting to see how stocks like $CANV $HEMP $MDBX $MJNA $PHOT & $VPER hold up over the next few weeks, especially today after this more than breakout worthy news coming out of the pot and tobacco industry.
