t would be an interesting if the company held an official audit and asked all shareholders to send a copy of their account statement displaying shares held as of a specific date……that would be a very enlightening number.

That would be a total cluster****. Ask the CMKXers and their owners group lawyer.

Besides, with the new regulation you're going to see a monthly list of all short positions anyway.
