Most metal printing companies are using laser sintering. Arcam uses electron beam melting, which packs more energy and results in a hotter beam. This allows for faster printing of quality void free parts. Arcam has the patents to back this process and has the rights to the IP for the next generation of the technology as well (fastEBM). Results of the EU research grant are due to be announced on Arcam's Q4 earnings call on Feb 7th.
