Subject: Samsung patent deal

Doug;

What are the limits on Samsung, if any, in that patent agreement/sale with ANI? The patents they bought are theirs, of course. The licenses they received on RAMAN, for example - any limits?

Can Samsung make stuff for others such as APPLE, SONY, etc.? Or are they restricted to their OWN products?

My main interest is in RAMAN, which is, as we all know, the most important.

For the licensed patents, Samsung is free to sell products that they manufacturer to anyone, whether it be individual consumers, or another company (Apple or Sony) that resells them under their own name. Having said that, many display makers have cross licensing agreements for their patents with other display manufacturers to avoid fights over technology. Samsung cannot cross license our patents. The goal is that once Samsung gets a product in the market, others will follow and need a license from us.

I hope that answers your question. If not, feel free to follow up.

Thanks
