People make choices......

I don't think anyone here is saying people shouldn't try to plan and prepare for retirement if they are able. And yes, people make choices... and guess what... people make mistakes too. But I guess in your book, anyone who makes some poor choices, even if it was 30 years ago, are not entitled to health insurance or a decent retirement. And that's the whole point. Reality is that people are human and make mistakes. Young people don't think to the future. I'm all for educating our young to do better than our generation is doing in that regard. But we've been paying into social security for 30 something years and now were told we are shit out of luck and... btw... health care is going to be completely unaffordable... so whatever you do, don't get sick or try to retire early.
