It's plain and simple; you can't lol. I also have a margin account and shorted a penny stock by accident due to the system messing up so I immediately called scottrade to ask them before I repurchased the shares I shorted because I know the rules. I was on the phone with them for 40 minutes begging them to allow me to cover because I would have made roughly 15K but they said there was no way and they would cancel the transactions which they did. Either way we cannot short a penny stock, the mms have their ways but we definitely can't!! The moral of the story is don't listen to the bogus you hear on this board lol.
