My father, who is in his 90s, fell and fractured his hip this morning. He had emergency surgery today at NY Presbyterian Hospital. The family physician said to prepare for the worst on account of the risks of general anesthesia for someone at an advanced age. The surgeon said they were not doing a full-fledged hip replacement but rather a “halfway” procedure. I heard this second-hand and I’m not sure what it means, I'm waiting for an update from the attending physicians. Thanks, Rich, for your concern.
