iPod box coupon

90+% of iPods are sold to Windows users. If the goal is to leverage the iPod to make a CPU sale, then aim the coupon at making that happen -- aim it specifically at the Mac Mini.

When the Mac Mini was introduced it was a BYOKAM (bring your own keyboard and mouse). The most undersold part of the Mac Mini equation is the KVM Switch. The whole idea of the Mini is a tiny little box that can offer a chance to "test-drive" or integrate a Mac into a PC world for a gradual transition or even a cheap dual-use world. Only thing needed is the KVM Switch.

Make the coupon for a free KVM Switch. Apple can buy them at a cost of probably $15 in bulk. The coupon (a) raises awareness that with a Mac Mini you can keep your PC and create a simple toggle switch between using your PC and using the new Mini, (b) drives traffic to the Mini. "Free KVM Switch - a $49.95 value". On a $499 PC, that's a pretty enticing.
