A new product on 32nm today will also be getting samples, initially. This says nothing about the maturity of the process

Well back at'cha. It says nothing about the maturity of the product.

Someone was pointing out that as end customers you & I can't get 20nm products (which is already false, as an end customer I CAN get 20nm products, if I have the right relationship with Xilinx)

No, you can get 20nm samples. Apparently you can't tell the difference between a sample and a production product, but if you understood this business it would be obvious to you. The sample may be full of bugs. It may not have been qualified yet. If it was qualified and production worthy, it wouldn't be called a sample. Intel typically samples to tier one customers a year before product introduction. Should we rejoice then because Intel is in volume production because they sample on A-0 silicon?

And I guarantee you and your pals will be singing from the mountaintops the very second Intel announces that the first "volume production" wafers start their journey through the fab.

I'm almost certain they already are. The difference here is Intel's track record.
