Even though Lynch managed a large-cap fund for many years, he thinks smaller is better. "Everything else being equal, you'll do better with the small companies," he writes. Very well, large caps are out. "If you find a stock with little or no institutional ownership, you've found a potential winner." That's easy enough to arrange. "Find a company that no analyst has ever visited...and you've got a double winner." That would make it tricky to get the earnings forecasts we'll need, but we can restrict the list to companies with sparse analyst coverage.
