TSMC seems more than able to pay for its fixed assets given its pretty enormous wafer capacity, and its R&D budget has been going up pretty dramatically over the last several years.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around your notion that TSMC "can't afford" FinFETs. They can "afford" it and they'll make a good chunk of cash off of those 16nm factories for many, many years to come.

The numbers are the numbers. If you and fpg wanted to deny the interpretation that would be one thing. But attempting to continuously deny the numbers is irresponsible.

TSMC has yet to ship any FinFETS, so let's skip the conjecture about how rich they are going to be when it happens. We have a couple of years to wait on that.
