What's with the volume spike, any info?

I thought this would have been a real winner when Home Depot started carrying it, but it turned out to be a real disappointment so far luckly was able to write it off and offset last years profits.
My waiting period is almost up and there's been some serious volume to this lately compelling me to take an other look at it. Anyone have ny idea? Home depot is still carrying it and it hasen't exactly flown off the shelves, from what i've seen the price dropped a bit.
Some HD sale associate was saying that they were going to try to make it a building code requirement in norteast, texas and a few other states.
I know there's been some posts claiming that it doesn't work can you provide links to testing agency results.
