higher than AMD's MPU ASP.

Not when the target is some HPC research outfit, then Intel gives them away. That's an ASP of $0 for you, the reading challenged out there.

When will Intel go to the promotion, "Please give this orphaned Itanium CPU a home. He's free!"?
