I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were only responding to messages posted to you by them, since you can't filter those out of your box -- you only hit delete.

(That brings up a neat way to deal with the "bug" -- don't allow public OR private replies to you, if you block that person...hmmm..might be abused..dunno..food for thought)

You are going to have to show some kind of self-control and just not respond to the guy. Life's too short.
