regarding Farmedhere, Yes they use lights but so do commercial Growers. They do this to keep quality production and continuity of supply, and we will find that lights will be needed on the VertiCrop system during the darker months.

Please pardon the joshing but I had wondered if you previously studied the cost of moving the platforms vs. cost of lighting.
In Alaska despite its short growing season in northern areas, some produce grows very large with the long days in summer as opposed to lengthy periods with little or no sunlight.
Are there any studies you know of that indicate what crops grow best with extended periods of light? I would assume there is great variation as with some flowers that only grow well in shady areas.
