I don't see it going away either, especially since you have to do iOS development work on Macs. iOS does not have the concept of a mouse - that's a big drawback for a lot of professional applications including code development.

Apple seems to be putting as little development effort as they can get away with on Mac OS X and as little hardware effort as they can too. Basically, they're coasting.
