Down here we have the market maker system that does not require buyers & sellers to match up. In most cases you'll sell to a market maker & buy from a market maker's inventory.

Market makers create liquidity when there is no liquidity. I.e. Buying when there are no buyers & selling from their inventory when there are no other sellers.
