Montecito first taped out in 2004 and anyone with even half
a brain knows that high end server processors often take 12
to 18 months or more from first silicon to commercial release.
For example the Alpha EV7 taped out in early 2001 but didn't
ship in systems until early 2003.

The Montecito taped out in mid 2004 with its introduction
scheduled for late 4Q05 and volume production in 1Q06.

PS: Like with Prescott, it would have been better if they just took Madison, mirrored it and done a dumb shrink. Prescott turned out badly in 90nm too.
