DD Tegra 4 NP1 won’t support H.265/HEVC

“UpgradeableThe Nuvola NP-1 supports current 4K UltraHD video using the H.264 compression, and will be automatically updated with the latest H.265 (HEVC) codecs as they become available.”
https://nuvola4k.com/

Sorry but the NP-1 and NP-H1 wont stream 4k native using the H.265 codec. Why not, because the Tegra 4 chipset isn’t powerful enough. Foley wouldn’t lie and say it will support it did he?

You will need one of these chipsets to stream Native 4k using the H.265 HEVC codec. Nvidia Tegra 5 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. Or a chipset that is just as powerful. You need 2x the amount of gpu to run the x265 compared to the x264.

Snapdragon 805 coming Q1 2014!

"Ability to stream more video content at higher quality using less power: Support for Hollywood Quality Video (HQV) for video post processing, first to introduce hardware 4K HEVC (H.265) decode for mobile for extremely low-power HD video playback."

This article proves that the hardware in the NP1 isn’t powerful enough…

And look, companies like DIVX are already using the H.265 codec. So if the NP-1 player is upgradable to it, why hasn’t it?
